Baylor’s Cozy + Neutral Nursery

finally I am sitting down to document our sweet Baylor’s nursery! I love this room and we spend a lot of time in here, even though Baylor is still in our bedroom for another month or so (we usually move the babies to their nursery around 4 months). at least once a day we’re in here to nurse in my favorite chair or I’ll lay him on his play mat while I fold laundry, etc.

this space was totally empty until I was close to 30 weeks along. I bought that giant highland cow picture pretty early in my pregnancy and once it arrived I had no idea what I was going to do with it. slowly but surely I collected things I loved and Jordan built the shelving after I showed him a picture of something similar on Pinterest. I pieced the furniture decor with personalized wood toys along with pops of neutral details of green + cream and it all came together at once!

this room was once Baker’s room and we originally installed the wood wall for her nursery and I loved it so much and knew I wanted to incorporate it into whatever I did for Baylor’s nursery. it is real barn wood that was white washed and distressed and installed piece by piece.  it really brings so much character to this space! as always, scroll to the very bottom for sources and let me know if I’ve missed anything!

photography by jamie denholm photography  Baylor’s chair was a handmedown from Brady and still in great condition even though I rocked Brady in it until the day we moved it into Baylor’s room. the rocker was a splurge for Brady’s nursery and I was so glad to be able to use it again. his amazing dresser was a gift from Unruh Furniture. we visited their showroom in Dallas back in the fall to customize the perfect piece for Baylor’s nursery. I was originally going to go with a stain similar to the shelves but when presented with all the options I was immediately draw to this perfect sage color. if you aren’t familiar with the story behind these wood furniture builders you should really check them out! I’ll be sharing more about our experience with the design process later this week!!

these name signs are SO beautiful and very well made. each of my kids now have their own name sign from the polymath mom! I’ve gotten a few questions about the details on his sign and here is what I requested!

24″ round
font: delphine, waterlily
color: (custom sage green), 1
stain: special walnutthese shelves came out exactly as I envisioned them! Jordan cut, nailed, and stained 1×4’s and hung them on the wall with l-brackets attached to the back for support. I asked for suggestions on instagram for where to find wood toys to fill these shelves and everyone pulled through with awesome suggestions! I loved this rainbow stacking toy because it matched the wood colors in his room perfectly along with the alphabet blocks. the personalized rattle was the most precious gift from noc noc toys.. they engraved his name and birthdate which makes for the perfect baby keepsake or addition to your easter baskets! I stacked two of the Ikea alseda stools and Jordan attached them with zip ties underneath to keep them stacked. another focal point in Baylor’s room is this amazing wool roving + metal wall hanging. the sage and cream inspiration for Baylor’s room started with this piece!  I came across whisker row when I was searching for something to hang in Brady’s room and fell in love with her gorgeous dip dyed fiber art. she posted to her Instagram account a piece similar to this one as a “mistake” in color and I sent her a message to see if she could repeat that mistake again 🙂 its perfect.
