December bucket list

I can’t believe its December 1st!!  we are spinning our holiday wheels over here and attempting to cram in as many Christmas-y things into the next 25 days as possible!  as I was coming up with our December bucket list I was texting Jordan every five minutes to see about adding something else to the calendar.. he finally started ignoring me and so.. I’m thinking that no response means YES! right?

what I do want to remember about this season is that its less about me and all about Jesus. I want my actions and what I deem important during this time to reflect that so my kids, most importantly, see that first hand from their parents. there are A LOT of fun things and events to do and Ive included them on this list, but also throwing in some activities that hold the true meaning of Christmas is so important.

blanket //  pom bonnet // santa shirt // leggings decorate the tree :: we decorated our tree a couple weeks ago but plan to dress the girls’ rooms in twinkle lights!

build a gingerbread house

write a letter to Santa

make sugar cookies for Santa :: my favorite recipe HERE! perfect cookies. every time.

make reindeer food for Christmas Eve :: this recipe is super easy!

take a Christmas lights tour :: we did this last year and decided we wanted to do a carriage ride every year! (check it out HERE)

make homemade fudge

read the story of Jesus’ birth in the Bible

shop for our Angels :: we have three angels to shop for this year. we picked up two from our church, a little boy and a little girl, and another one from the hospital, a little girl, where Jordan works.  we plan to take Parker and Jolie with us to help choose the perfect gifts for these kids.

wear sparkle + sequin :: the holiday parties and fun events surrounding this time of year there is always a reason to glam it up a bit!  I grabbed these sequence joggers and I’m thinking of wearing them for a Christmas family event we have coming up!

have a Christmas movie night :: I need to know all your Christmas movie MUSTS!

go ice skating :: the twins (and maybe even Baker!) will have a blast!

send out Christmas cards :: our cards have been printed + sitting on my dresser for two weeks.  they are already addressed (thank you, Shutterfly).. basically they need STAMPS.  why haven’t I done it yet?!

have the most epic unicorn party everrrr :: the twins turn FIVE next week!  we are having their party next weekend 🙂

attend Christmas Eve church service

visit a Christmas tree farm :: I’m still on the fence about real vs. fake tree- we already have our fake tree up, but love the idea of real after our visit to the tree farm this week!  we will definitely go back for the experience nontheless.listen to Christmas music

give a secret Santa gift :: we started the tradition of secret Santa among the kiddos in our Supper Club last year and had a blast with it.  we drew names this week!

visit Zoolights:: the Dallas Zoo is hosting a their very first holiday experience. they boast one million twinkle lights and fun activities for the kids, so we are TOTALLY checking it out.  nana+ duke (my parents) are supposed to be coming to visit and my hope is to do this with them.

make homemade ornaments :: has anyone ever tried to make those salt dough ornaments? Pinterest is covered in those recipes!

visit ICE! :: we have gone almost every year and we have plans to go this year with BB + Papa!

sit on Santa’s lap :: we will sit on Santa’s lap after ICE!  the Santa at the Gaylord Texan is phenom

wear Christmas jammies EVERY NIGHT : ok, so maybe thats excessive.. but wear them a lot 🙂

drink hot chocolate

go to a local Santa breakfast :: the high school in our town hosts one every year and this year I’m hoping to take all the babes!

open a gift on Christmas Eve :: we started a tradition when the twins were about two years old to open a new pair of Christmas jammies to wear while baking cookies for Santa and to wear all day on Christmas Day.  they open these gifts on Christmas Eve!

Brady in his little Christmas outfit is killing me! What size is he wearing in the pants? My boy will be 8 months next December and I don’t know if I should go up or down a size, that outfit it too cute to pass up though so we’re either squeezing in or going baggy 🙂 Thanks!

hey Carolyn! SO, I got these for him back in the summer and ordered a size 12m because they were on sale and that was the closest size she had available! They are a hair too big in the waist and length but I am glad I got the 12m because he will def be able to wear them for a much longer time to come!

  2. CC says:

We’ve always had the tradition of opening Christmas pjs on Christmas Eve too. Something my husband and I now do with our kids too! Love this tradition.

  3. Jenny says:

When considering real vs fake Christmas trees just remember that after a tree is cut down there is approximately 25,000 bugs still living inside the tree. I wouldn’t want that in my house!

  4. Stephanie H. says:

My favorite adult Christmas movies are The Holiday, While You Were Sleeping, and The Family Stone. Of course the classics of Home Alone, A Christmas Story, and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation are just a given as well!

  5. Jodi says:

Amber, I love all the things you do with your children. My mom started the tradition of not putting the baby in the nativity scene under the tree. On Christmas we would place the baby there and sing Happy Birthday before opening presents. Easy way to remind young children what the day is about.

  6. Kristin says:

My favorite Christmas movie is White Christmas. My sisters and I used to watch it every Christmas morning when we were little because my dad was a dairy farmer and had the milk the cows before we could open presents. We still watch it every year! Now that my fraternal twin girls are 2.5, they love to watch the dance scenes…especially the “Sisters” song☺️. The sisters in the movie who perform the song have different eye colors, one brown and one blue, which is the same as my girls!!! I started following your Instagram 3 years ago when I was pregnant because of Parker and Jolie! Thanks for sharing all of your insights and experiences over the years! You are a great mama and have such a sweet family!!!

I also like Love Actually, but it is a Christmas movie for adults.

Amber, may I ask which tree farm did you go?
